Where Joy & Grief Meet, Preparing for Autumn, and Slowing Down

T-minus 4 days until the start of Autumn!

Living in Reverie No. 2

Welcome to the Living in Reverie Newsletter: A weekly collection of miscellaneous daydreams, quotes, and creative recommendations.

Hello friends! This wee'k’s newsletter is coming through a few days later than normal. Unfortunately, my husband and I were out of town for a funeral over the weekend and spent some time with family. Simply put — life happens sometimes. Ironically, the blog post I had written for this week ties in perfectly with this.

Life Happens in the Instant
When life meets the intersection of joy and grief. A few years ago, I wrote an entry in my journal amid both a hard and wonderful time in my life. Both of those things were equally true, and I believe it continues to be true for most people. Inspired by my favorite Joan Didion novel, I revisit this entry and that time in my life.

On my mind

September days have the warmth of summer in their briefer hours, but in their lengthening evenings a prophetic breath of autumn.

Rowland E. Robinson

We’re less than one week away from the first day of autumn, but truthfully, I always feel like autumn starts at the beginning of September. I’m so excited for cooler days, fall activities, cozy movie nights, and lots of fall baking. Autumn is also a wonderful time to start slowing down and preparing for winter and the end of the year. The seasons often can remind us that we aren’t meant to be productive or growing all the time. Slowness is good and necessary. ❤️

Have a great week and see you next week!
